Southern Utah's red rock scenery contrasts with smooth greens, pristine fairways and challenging holes making Moab, Utah a premier yet reasonably priced golf destination.

The area surrounding Moab, Utah draws dozens of tourists wanting to visit Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The quaint western flavored town makes a good base camp for sightseeing and also offers a choice of three public courses as an alternative to hiking or mountain biking. The signature red rock cliffs that surround that area are integrated into the course designs making a pleasurable golf experience to admire the vistas along with enjoying a relaxing round. These courses offer a challenge for the advanced players but won’t overly intimidate the novice golfer and won’t break the budget.

The Moab Golf Course

Located a few miles from the Moab town center, this public golf course will surprise many players with their reasonable green fees and stunning scenery. The Spanish Valley sandstone cliffs and red mesas dominate the serene beauty surrounding this course. It’s usually easy to book a tee time here and with the mild climate, the course can be played most of the year. In the hotter summer months, an early morning tee time insures a finish before the heat starts to build in the afternoon. This 18 hole, par 72 courses traverses over 6819 yds with some challenging dog leg turns and mild elevations at play. Hideout Golf Club

The name itself is intriguing enough to take the hour drive from Moab to Monticello, Utah. Along the way, the road travels through some of Utah’s infamous colorful scenery. One of the best golf deals in the area, the Hideout Golf Club can be played most of the year with green fees ranging from $20.00 to $25.00. Built in 2001, Golfweek Magazine continually rates this course as one of the best municipal courses in Utah. The eighteen hole course contains total yardage of 6800 yds and offers a challenging round with narrow fairways and some elevated greens and fairways. Tee times may be booked through (435) 587-2200.

Carbon Country Club

Still within the general Moab area, the Carbon Country Club sits between the towns of Helper and Price, Utah. This course is a true Utah gem noted for the outstanding scenery. The semi-arid climate of southern Utah seems to make the ball fly higher and combined with clear blue skies and colorful mesas, a round of golf here is a delight for all levels of players. Although the Carbon Country Club is a private club, the course is open to the public and offers eighteen holes with 6209 total yardage. The offsite driving range emulates a true golf hole and offers an opportunity to practice a variety of shots.
