Golf holidays abroad are great fun. If you decide to venture abroad for a golfing holiday following is some advice and some suggestions to make the most of your holiday.

Golf abroad can be great fun and a fantastic way to mix with friends, meet new people or have an enjoyable family holiday but without careful planning it can become a very expensive choice.

Golf Holidays Abroad, Choosing the Right Time to Go

  • Obviously the best time to go for a golfing holiday is when the weather is bad and cold at home - in the British Isles that means anytime between October and March.

  • The nearest and most popular place to visit for those who live in Europe is Spain and Portugal

  • These are the months however when greens fees are at their most expensive and without careful preparation playing golf there can be extremely costly. Therefore, choosing the right place to visit, with courses offering the best deals on green fees, can save you much money.

  • There are many companies that offer deals on green fees and these can easily be found on the Internet.

  • If you decide to make it a family holiday make sure you also investigate the price of flights during term time. The airline companies charge inflated prices when the kids are out of school, so make sure you plan for the added expense. It’s worth remembering that in England it’s possible to take your children out of school for a few days specifically to go on holiday. This will dramatically reduce the price of flights.

Golfing on the Costa de la Luz

This is an area on the Spanish Portuguese border around the delightful town Ayamonte, which offers great value for money. The climate during the winter months is perfect for golf and green fees are less expensive than the more established resorts in the Algarve.

There are two airports that service the area, Faro and Seville, both of which are about an hour from the Costa De La Luz. Very often flights to Seville are much cheaper than those to Faro, particularly during the summer months when the residents of Seville evacuate the searing heat of the city. It is one of the hottest places in Spain.

But be careful if you hire a car, Faro is in Portugal and Seville Spain - it is incredibly expensive to hire a car in one country and drop it off in another. Check very carefully before you book - it is much better to drop off in the same country you hire from.

For families keen on a break, not only is the area relatively cheap for golf but there are some excellent facilities for the children, including water parks and exciting cruises on the sea or along the famous Guardiana river that separates Spain from Portugal.

Courses and Golf Tuition on Cosat De La Luz

Every golf course offers deals on tuition. Individual lessons can be costly however, but there are some great deals for groups. If you are planning a holiday abroad try to take some friends along, green fees and tuition are much less expensive if there are a few of you. And similar to deals available in England in summer, there is nearly always a special price on green fees if you play in the afternoon.

Golf abroad can be great fun and a fantastic break away, it just needs some careful planning to make the most of your budget.
